Birmingham Bank has created the role of Lending Product Manager with responsibility for supporting delivery of the Lending product strategy and ensuring sustainable balance sheet growth. Our lending Product team is responsible for the entire end-to-end lending process – from origination, through credit decisioning, legal, drawdown and in-life performance. Birmingham Bank does ‘Lending’ a little differently – and we’re looking for talented individuals who can think differently to deliver the right outcomes.
The role will work heavily with our Distribution, Marketing, Credit Risk and Operational teams and you’ll need to be excellent at working with others across the business to maximise their knowledge in growing our lending product and digital solutions. You will have genuine ownership – from strategy to delivery.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to product strategy and manage the product roadmap – own, manage, and make recommendations for the product roadmap that balances the needs of our external and internal customers
- Become a subject matter expert – be the go-to person in your product area for customers, Product, and internal stakeholders.
- Understand the broader market, competitor landscape, and emerging trends to identify gaps and growth opportunities
- Deliver business outcomes - establish Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for your product area that drive tangible business outcomes and track your team's progress against them
- Build relationships and collaborate – within the immediate team, between functions, and across the whole organisation
- Solve complex problems – be able to clearly define the problem from various aspects (customer, technology, and internal business users) and define deliverables to solve the problem
- Perform customer discovery - gather customer insights through interviews, panels, and calls to improve products continuously.
- Prioritise and deploy these activities to understand customer wants, needs, and pain points
Experience
- Have experience shipping complex yet customer-centric analytical products in a fast-growing company
- Have experience working on Lending products, ideally within the BTL market.
- Be data-driven, passionate about metrics, and intellectually honest about how your product is performing
- Balance innovative thinking with the ability to earn trust across the broader organisation by delivering business outcomes
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to distil a complex topic in a simple, easy-to- understand recommendation for stakeholders in distinct functions to you
- Demonstrate strong presentation and storytelling skills with an ability to take people on a journey from the very beginning
- Have significant independence/ownership for your product area
Qualifications & Personal Characteristics
- Highly numerate and with strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills.
- Financial services industry experience preferably with some time spent in a Fintech/start up banking environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
